Manufacturing Process

  • The EAF is charged with the requisite mix of raw material
  • The charged raw material is melted down through Electric Arcing/Oxygen Lancing to form molten steel
  • The liquid steel is then tapped into a ladle and sent for refining to the LF
  • At the LF the chemical composition of the liquid steel is refined to the desired specification using appropriate mix of ferroalloys and fluxes
  • On completion of the refining process the liquid steel may be taken to the VD for further processing or sent directly to the CCM
  • At the CCM the liquid steel from the Ladle is poured into the Tundish from where it is channeled into moulds of requisite dimensions to form the continuous cast stream of billet/bloom
  • The billet/bloom stream is cooled during its passage through the CCM and cut online to the required length by means of an automated gas cutting machine
  • Finished billets are Quality checked for the required metallurgical, mechanical and dimensional standards
  • The entire process from raw-material to finished billet/bloom production is fully automated using state of the art equipment, to ensure the quality of the product and also to increase operational efficiency of the Mill
